West Cornwall surgery pilots new feedback system
Cape Cornwall surgery in St Just is one of just 22 GP practices in England to be chosen to test a new patient experience feedback system.
Patients of the surgery will be asked to rate different aspects of their care using either a hand held touch screen monitor or a feedback device housed in a kiosk in the practice.
The trial will last until the Spring with the first survey period beginning in early December. Responses will be downloaded and analysed daily. Areas that are consistently flagged up will be altered before the next feedback period begins in January. All patient feedback is anonymous and confidential.
Antek Lejk, the director of partnership commissioning with NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly said: “We aim to provide local people with the healthcare that they want and this feedback system will enable us to do that. It’s a great honour for Cape Cornwall surgery to be chosen as one of the few GP practices to test the new system.”
Dr David Carruthers, the GP leading the project at Cape Cornwall surgery said: “Our small rural practice is a long way from hospital and other services so alongside our range of pre-bookable appointments we do many extra things like minor injury treatment, minor surgery, investigative procedures and medicine dispensing. What’s exciting about this project is that it instantly helps us discover more of the things that are important to our patients so that we can plan the changes that are best for them. The system is so user friendly we will be encouraging all our patients to discover just how easy and satisfying it is to take part and make a real difference.”
