Childhood Immunisations

It is very important to get your babies and children immunised against the following potentially dangerous infectious diseases:

  • Polio
  • Diphtheria]
  • Tetanus
  • Pertussis   
  • Meningitis C
  • Measles
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • HIB
  • Pneumococcal infections

You baby or child will get an invite to come to have these done. The immunisation programme starts when your baby is 2 months old. 

2 months: 1st Five in One - Diptheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio and Haemophillus influenzae type b (Hib)

                    1st pneumococcal infection vaccination

3 months:   2nd Five in One - Diptheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio and Haemophillus influenzae type b (Hib)

                    1st Meningitis C

4 months:  3rd Five in One - Diptheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio and Haemophillus influenzae type b (Hib)

                    2nd Pneumococcal infection vaccination

                    2nd Meningitis C

Around 12 months:        Haemophillus influenza type B (Hib) and Meningitis C

Arounds 13 months:     Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) and pneumococcal infection

3 years and 4 months:  Pre-school booster - Diptheria, tetanus, pertussis and polio.

                                            2nd MMR (measles, mumps and rubella)

13-18 year olds:              School leavers booster - Diptheria, tetanus and polio

12-18 years old (girls only): Human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination (a course of 3 injections)

In addition some babies in high risk groups are given a BCG vaccination to protect them against tuberculosis.

You will recieve notification about these vaccinations and when your child is due, if you have any questions please speak to one of our nurses.
